With over 18 years of mathematics teaching and tutoring experience in high-achieving public and private high schools in the United States and Australia, I strive to help each student achieve a deeper understanding and build connections between mathematical concepts presented in the classroom. I uphold a deep belief that all students can learn and it is my responsibility as their teacher to engage them academically, to provide differentiated approaches to ensure the concepts are accessible to all and to inspire each individual to achieve to their fullest potential.
In 1993, I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana - Champaign with a Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science. After three years of work experience at firms such as Ernst & Young, LLP and William M. Mercer (now known as Mercer), I returned to the University of Denver to complete the high school mathematics educator licensure program. During my career, I enjoyed an opportunity to work for two summer seasons at South Pole Station, Antarctica as science support observing mathematics in action. I completed a Master's in Educational Administration at the University of Denver developing a more global understanding of education. In 2010, I was selected to participate in a teaching exchange program where I taught high school mathematics in Sydney, Australia.
When not teaching at Evergreen High School, I enjoy spending time in the mountains skiing and ice climbing in the winter or mountain biking and backpacking in the summer months. On occasion, I might be found helping someone out who is having a bad day in the mountains as I am a fourteen-year volunteer with the Alpine Rescue Team located in Evergreen, Colorado.
